Phlebotomy Technician

Phlebotomy Technician Mission:

Our mission is to train and prepare individuals who will be responsible for the accurate and timely collection of specimens for analysis. They would perform blood specimen collections, other types of specimen collections and enter data. They would be competent, ethical and have compassion as they provide the best  health care to every patient every day.

Program Description:

The program spans 15 weeks for a total of 225 hours. There are 11 weeks, 2 times per week in the classroom from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. totaling 65 hours. Following this,                         to gain knowledge and skills to meet the goals, there are 4 weeks of clinical rotations in a hospital setting, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day for a total of 160 hours.

Spring classes begin in January and Fall classes begin in August. Deadline to  register is 2 weeks prior to the start of the program. However, applicants who have paid the $200.00 seat fee are prioritized in the date order in which the seat fee has been paid. Class size is limited therefore seat fees and complete files are given priority. 

Clinical Rotations:

 Clinical rotations are performed at local CAMC hospitals.

Instructor:

Carol Bridges is a Medical Laboratory Technologist MTH (ASCP registered) who has experience in the phlebotomy program and laboratory. Trained, skilled and knowledgeable phlebotomists from CAMC laboratories assist with critiquing the students’ collection skills.
