Medical Assisting CLASS INFORMATION SHEET
A medical assistant works under the supervision of nurses or doctors in a healthcare facility providing technical, clerical, receptionist, and patient care support.
Requirements:
Copy of High School Diploma or GED and copy of Photo I.D.
Entrance Exam – TABE Test (Reading and Math) See below for further details.
Agreement to submit to a drug screen and criminal background check before clinical experience
Mandatory orientation approx. 1 week before class begins Required pre-requisite assignments in Medical Terminology- Coordinated with Mountain State ESC

Entrance Exam Date: Dates to be determined: School personnel will contact students for testing.
Deadline to register: Two weeks prior to start of program
Class Starts: January 10, 2022 at 8:00 a.m.
Class meets: Monday –Wednesday 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in- person; Thursday & Friday Virtual class (Assignments completed by assigned dates and times) 675 hours/6 months including 100 clinical hours. (Clinical Hours are scheduled with the placement locations during the last 4 weeks of class.)

Entrance Exam: Photo ID required to be admitted into test, receipt from exam payment, #2 pencils and a calculator.
Special Note: Admission to the Medical Assisting class is based on test results as compared to other candidate’s courses. Class size is limited!! There will be an orientation on the first night of class to clarify requirements of the course. Clinical experience hours will be set at that time, but students should plan for last 3 weeks/M-F 8hrs/day.
Financial Aid: Available to those who qualify. FASFA must be completed for 2020-2021 school year at FAFSA.gov to be eligible for financial aid. Financial aid available will not cover all program costs. (Garnet School ID for FAFSA: 013732)
The Financial Aid Specialist is available on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the main office. Part-time financial aid funding is allotted in the fall and spring, divided among all scheduled programs and all eligible students on a first come, first served basis.
